This test is used to identify IgM antibodies, which are found in the body. As soon as a virus strikes, IgM antibody is generated by the immune system as the first antibody. If you get a positive IgM test, you may have been infected, or you may have recently been vaccinated, and your immune system has begun responding both to the vaccination and the virus itself.
